The Project
Terra Quente is a ceramics brand founded by artist and ceramist Rita Sá Machado. The brand was born from her passion for plants and flowers, which initially led her to create handmade vases. Over time, the project evolved beyond its original concept, and Rita reached out to me and designer Tânia Pereira to develop a new brand identity that would reflect this growth.
The Challenge
The rebranding needed to capture not only Terra Quente’s evolution, but also Rita’s deeply personal relationship with the craft – her gestures and the discipline behind each piece.
The Solution
The final identity is built from forms that may initially appear purely geometric and organic. However, when observed closely, they reveal a body in motion – Rita herself. Thinking, shaping, glazing, teaching, wrapping, drawing. Her posture metaphorically expresses time, perseverance, repetition, experimentation, and the love she carries for this centuries-old craft.
